With a gentle yet highly professional demeanor, Reiki Master Alexandra Pierre-Louis provides a safe space in which to find balance and be restored. She is a Reiki Master in both the Usui and the Holy Fire traditions and brings to her work a nurturing touch, deep empathy, finely-attuned intuition and a unique, pan-cultural sensibility. Born to Palestinian and Haitian emigrés, Alex spent her childhood in Saudi Arabia before returning to the U.S. as an adolescent. Growing up with a blend of Middle Eastern and Western influences, Alex developed a tolerance for extremely diverse cultures. “The fact that I was mixed-race made me realize that I was a citizen of the world,” she says. It also helped develop a strong sense of the metaphysical and a heart-based spirituality that transcends ethnic or religious boundaries.
Like many healers, Alex felt a calling to help others from an early age but started out working in a more conventional profession. She began her career as a property manager in Washington, DC. When she became ill in her mid-20s, a friend recommended Reiki. The experience was profound and transformative. Alex felt clearly drawn to become a healer herself, and her Reiki therapist soon became her mentor. After several years of balancing property management with hands-on healing, Alex finally left her full-time job to pursue her life’s work as a Reiki therapist. In April 2017, she joined the staff of the Bethesda Salt Cave, a family-run healing center in the DC suburbs. Alex also has a private Reiki practice based in Rockville, Maryland.
In her free time, Alex enjoys traveling, dancing, sitting by water… and laughing. “I go for shows like ‘New Girl’ and ‘Scrubs,’ and all kinds of comedy, ranging from Kevin Hart to Lucille Ball,” she says. “ I just love to laugh.”
